Dvarčininkai Hillfort (Pilalė)

Dvarčininkai Pilalė, also known as Pilaitė, is a place of the putative hillfort on the left bank of the river Salantas which was destroyed. The promontory is surrounded by the valley of the river from the north and the west and by a ravine full of springs from the northern-east and Pilalė meets the hill in the south and south-east. The territory was arable, uncultivated. No defence reinforcements characteristic of hillforts (embankments, ditches) and cultural layer have been noticed. It is believed that a hillfort which was washed by the river Salantas many years ago could be located in the cape.
