Patterns and Colours of a Dowry Chest

During the educational activity “Patterns and Colours of a Dowry Chest” students are familiarised with the history of traditional dowry chests: first the origins of their emergence in the folk household are told and later it is explained how can they be applied today. Our aim is to arouse interest in folk art, to draw attention to traditional ornaments, colours, forms of dowry chests. Theoretical knowledge will be consolidated by filling a worksheet. After getting acquainted with dowry chests in the museum, our participants may make their own dowry chest and decorate it with folk ornaments.
