An amazingly beautiful place which breaths in history and calmness is locatted near the Hillfort Gintarai on the left bank of the river Minija. In 16-17th centuries, there was Kartena Manor on the hillfort surrounded by 3 ponds and an evangelical reformed church near the manor.there was Kartena Manor on the hillfort surrounded by 3 ponds and an evangelical reformed church near the manor. It is believed that around the middle of the 17th century, during the period of wars with the Swedish people, the manor was destroyed by a fire. The local people call the hill as the Cherry Hill and tell different legends about the hill. One of them tells that the master of Kartena Manor loved cherries and planted a large garden. After the Swedish people burnt the manor, the garden remained and in spring it would dress the hill with white blossom. This is why it was called the Cherry Hill. In the spring of 2015, the Cherry Manor opened the door to the visitors offering a great opportunity for accommodation, celebration of the most important anniversaries, organisation of conferences. The exterior of the buildings of the wooden manor and the interior of the premises were created on the basis of the inspirations of the period of wooden manors of Samogitia.
