Excursion “Legends of the Counts of Tiškevičiai”

The excursion "Legends of the Counts of Tiškevičius" is a fascinating journey into the past, which begins with the church and whose history was also written by the counts. Next, a short stop at the mysterious first stone bridge in Kretinga, a look at the highest cemetery gate in Lithuania. Entering through the gate, we will see even more moments of history: we will visit the chapel-mausoleum of the Counts of Tiškevičius, which was the first of its kind in Lithuania to be designed by the architect K. E. Strandman. We will walk along the charming avenues of the Manor Park to the first Lithuanian kindergarten in Lithuania, and from the outside we will see the manor's outbuildings, which, after a guided tour, tell the story of the manor's unhurried daily life. Finally, we will admire the residence of the Count Tiškevičius family. Acquired in a somewhat scandalous manner, the estate became a centre of culture, innovation and education at the end of the 19th century and attracted visitors from all over the world with the largest private orangery of its time.
