Monument to the President A. Stulginskis

Did you know that Jokūbavas is a place of residence of the President? During the period from 1926 to 1940, the President Aleksandras Stulginskis and his family lived in Jokūbavas even for fourteen years. As he liked horticulture, he created nice environment in his manor, interesting people would visit the home of the President. Unfortunately, the idyll has ended with exile to Siberia and the manor fostered by the President has not survived. The old residents of Jokūbavas still remember A. Stulginskis who returned from the exile; he was a white-haired, tired man who disembarked the bus in the centre of the settlement. Everything that has remained of the presidential life in Jokūbavas is the place of the former manor homestead. Today there is a monumental stone in the manor park. The monument was built at the beginning of the period of independence. The monument was made of an impressive pink stone of more than 3 metre height. It was found in Šašaičiai village. The stone is decorated by the bronze bas-relief of A. Stulginskis.
