Housekeeper’s house

In front of Kretinga Manor, on the other side of the street, there is a building, i.e. the Housekeeper's House, which is much more modest but as beautiful as the palace. Today, the administration of the museum works and an exhibition of the history of Kretinga town is presented in the building. However, it is possible that the Housekeeper's House could indeed be used as palace, till new masonry palace was built on the first half of the 19th century. Thus, counts Zubov could really live in the housekeeper's house and the countess Sofija Tiškevičienė really lived in it while the palace was being repaired. The Housekeeper's House was called even "polociai". And, indeed, the building reminds of the palance by the extant colourful wall painting and abundance of buildings ensured comfortable life of the whole family of the housekeeper. Today, visitors may access the exhibition in the Housekeeper's House through a white footbridge from which the beauty of the building and environment opens.
