Kretinga Jewish New Town site

In the second half of the 18th century, Kretinga Jewish community which established the Jewish New Town (Naujamiestis) settled between Kretinga town and Kretinga village, near the road to Klaipėda, in the valley of the river Akmena, in the former island. In the 19th century, Jews were allowed to live in the town, the New Town (Naujamiestis) became a part of the town and the marketplace which was in the town was removed.
