Mikoliškiai Saint Joseph Church

Saint Joseph Church which looks like from a fairytale is located on the outskirts of Kretinga District. It is small, made of round logs, decorated in an old-style and very cosy. The responsibility for appearance of the church in 1911 falls within a very serious person, i.e. Mikoliškiai nobleman, war engineer, Lieutenant General Liucijonas Bronišas. He created the design of the church and obtained all construction permits from the then authorities by himself. Saint Joseph Church is another excellent example of the community spirit: L. Bronišas and his wife paid for delivery of the afore-mentioned logs and construction materials. And farmers of the surrounding villages paid for the work of the builders. The church was built within one year by mutual efforts.
