Mother Teresa’s Sisters Monastery

The Sacred Heart Franciscan Missionary Congregation, or the Home of Teresa's Sisters, can be easily found in Kretinga. The monastery, with its vivid blue roof, is just a few minutes’ walk from the centre of the town. Teresa's Sisters moved to an old wooden medical building in 1991. Since then, they have become an integral part of Kretinga: the sisters visit families and take care of needy and homeless people. The nuns, who have brought the building and garden back to life, inspire everyone. Both men and women committed to their life’s path can stay in their home. The nuns have saved many lives. Volunteers are always welcome at the Home of Teresa's Sisters, and the sisters can be easily recognised in public. They wear the same white saris decorated with bluish stripes, just like Mother Teresa, the founder of the Congregation.
