Old Jewish Cemetery of Laukžemė

Laukžemė Jewish community people were buried in the cemetery since the end of the 17th century. When the community in the 18th century moved to Darbėnai, the dead were still buried in the old cemetery, till the permission for building of the Jewish cemetery near the town was obtained. Several small tombstone stelea have survived. One of them marks the grave of the rabbi's daughter Juda Kac who died during the period 1819-1828. The last burial dates back to 1913.
