Old Jewish Cemetery of Salantai

A parcel of land located in Žvainiai village, at the river Salantas was allocated for the cemetery of the Jewish community. It was built at the end of the 18th century. In June-July 1941, the Jews who were repressed by the Nazis and died in the ghettos or in freedom were buried in the cemetery. The tombstone stelae, monumental stones and the wooden sculptural roofed pillar (artist J. Ambraška) built in 1991 still remind of them.
