Rūdaičiai Hillfort

Rūdaičiai hillfort called as "Pilalė" is located at high altitude of the coast of the rivulet Žiba. The hillfort which dates back from the 1st millenium to the 13th century has been significantly damaged by plough and triangulation tower entrenchment, trenches overgrown with deciduous trees. It is said that Rūdaičiai hillfort is haunted, local residents saw an enormous man wading in the rivulet Žiba. Stories are told that in ancient times a manor was standing on the hill and the manor sank to the ground with all its residents.
