Salantai Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

It is impossible to confuse Salantai Church with any other church; it is built on a hill, has two towers; thus, it is visible from a great distance. The Church of the Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary is famous for its two towers of even 70 metre high and a painting dating back to the 17th century. This church is not the first church in Salantai, its precursors were small and wooden. The current enhancing church was designed by the architect Karlas Eduardas Strandmanas from Sweden. The "sisters" of the church of Salantai designed by the same author stand in Palanga, Švėkšna, Ylakiai and other places. Salantai church built at the beginning of the 20th century preserved a painting of Virgin Mary and a baby boy of the 17th century which was in its precursor is decorated with 5 wooden altars, graceful pulpits.
