Salantai zoo

Small town of Salantai is full of surprises. Salantai zoo established on the initiative of a private person is one of surprises. The resident of Salantai Mindaugas Ivanauskas will not show a tiger in his household but you can see event 60 rare bird species and even two dozens of mammals and ungulates in the 20 are area. The owner of the zoo keeps one of the rarest hens in Lithuania, i.e. Orloff chicken. Here you can also see exotic wild pigs, i.e. collared peccaries, from South America. Strange common geese hatch in caves, visitors can see a porcupine. There are also some animals from Africa in the zoo; the owner of the zoo keeps a bitter ram who is loyal only to one female all its life. White peacock makes the zoo look really luxurious when a male decides to unfold its white tail in front of a female.
